Six Realms of Rebirth
Six Realms of Rebirth
In the Buddhist concepts of reincarnation, there are six classes of beings: gods, semi-gods, human beings, animals, ghosts, and hell beings. People are reincarnated into one of these six classes based on their practice of Buddhism, echoing the Buddhist concepts of karma and immortal beings.
This work originates from the similar concept. Human being seems so insignificantly small in front of the giant Buddha sculpture and in this increasingly chaotic world. All living creatures will eventually be saved and all their pains and sins will be resolved by the Buddha. With this work, Zhang Huan hopes that this giant oriental Buddha sculpture will bring harmony, tolerance and generosity to achieve the ideal world of great harmony, where there are no more disasters, wars and violence.
