Posing beside the Sakyamuni are Wisdom Bodhisattva and Fulfillment Bodhisattva, the former represents “great wisdom” and the latter assumes the role of “universal virtue”.
Also known as the Manjusri Bodhisattva, Wisdom Bodhisattva is renowned for his great wisdom. He holds a sword in his right hand to cut off earthly worries. His lion carrier keeps its chin up to manifest compelling wisdom and confidence of a guardian. The upper and lower parts of the statue compose a perfect aura in a concise structure and spirit, vis-à-vis with the Fulfillment Bodhisattva.

Li Chen, born in 1963, held a solo exhibition at Venice Biennale in 2007 and was the first Chinese artist invited to showcase a solo exhibition in a century. His sculptures, exhibiting and alluring ambiguity between lightness and heaviness as metaphors of spirituality and material, express his personal emotions, combine oriental spirit and western aesthetics, convey contemporary visual beauty, and allure current affairs by means of humor, thus creating works reborn from the thousand-year tradition.
