Mello Travels
Mello Travels
To reflect the important role of dogs in traditional Hakka society, American artist Steven Harrington creates the artwork that depicts his big dog Mello and friends have been invited to Taoyuan as distinguished guests. The invitation is called Ke Lai, which means guests from afar.
The fact that Harrington’s big dog Mello is holding a Lupine flower symbolizes the combination of Eastern (Hakka) and Western cultures. Through his unique approach, Harrington has instilled new life and creativity into Taoyuan, making it a hub for art and culture. The goal of this installation is to enhance Taoyuan's reputation and influence on the international stage, while reintroducing and appreciating the value of Hakka culture.
