Ferryboat Wharf in Memory
Ferryboat Wharf in Memory
When the team visited the Zhongxing community, listening to the elders of the community talk about the past and the present, the stories of the past Zhongzhuang immigrant village and the head of the Dahan River Zhongzhuang Xiakan ferry were vividly remembered. This is where the design of the work comes from.
Hidden stone steps and vanishing ferry ports have gradually revealed traces of the past in the past. The retreated river bank line and the newly built adjustment pool still roughly show the outline that has been baptized for hundreds of years, allowing the bow of the ferry to re-enter the field of vision of the environment and people's memory.
Looking at the rolling water, the changes of the times, and the construction of civilization; with the process of the migration of the indigenous people, the constantly changing residents, some forced to leave their hometowns, and some for the sake of life and hope, cross both sides of the stream, upstream and downstream; The transshipment of goods and the exchange of people have achieved the trajectory of the development of local stories, and also enriched the geography and culture from the source to the coast of Dahan River.
One side of the water and soil supports the other side, and in the endless interpretation, the value of life is realized. The works take the shape of the bow of a boat and the posture of a flying dragon, sailing to the sea and looking forward to the future.
