New Life of the Kiln
There used to be many brick kiln factories in Guishan District because Taoyuan has many places with high-clay red soil for the factories. The red brick economy fed local people for generations. “Guishan Zhangnaoliao XieHe Brick Kiln Factory” is the only remaining Hoffmann kiln in Taoyuan City. It was declared a historic building in September 2021.
Based on the image of Hoffmann kiln, the work turns a “kiln” into a tree with branches reaching to other trees. It symbolizes that the local public-private collaboration has become the nourishment of local cultural education.
