2023 Taoyuan Land Art Festival

Longtan 2023.08.04-2023.08.20 Qingpu 2023.08.11-2023.10.15

Since its inception in 2013, the Taoyuan Land Art Festival has broken the boundaries of traditional art museums with its landscape concept, allowing the public to engage closely with art. In 2023, in conjunction with the World Hakka Expo, the festival will take place in the Longtan and Zhongli Qingpu areas, where a significant Hakka population resides. The central theme of this edition is "Taoyuan Liā Liā" (a Hakka term meaning leisurely gathering, socializing, and enjoying oneself). Through local propositions, community collaboration, international and Taiwanese interactions, and the exploration of Hakka culture, the festival aims to shape cultural resonance with Liā culture, foster connections between the Hakka and Hakka culture, link the international community with Hakka people, and integrate Hakka culture with technology. This is the vision behind organizing this edition of the Land Art Festival.

    Headspring Theatre

    Midsummer Party

At the moment of incessant disasters occurring in Taiwan , artist Chang-Wang, with some outstanding theatrical workers and dancers, founded the first troupe called Streamline Creative Group, in July 1998, which takes “reform environments” and “interdisciplinary productions” as the dominant performance factors.
In 2005, it renames “Streams Confluence Theatre,” which refers to create the artistic space and change the cultural environment as the new goal. The speaking “Rivers and streams flow to the sea” means the new trend of art is the confluence of different artistic forms, the era of collaboration with all talents, and the epoch without boundary and aspects. Streams Confluence Theatre absorbs the spirit of the age, creates the new trend of the age, and it also collaborates with all the talents to open a new artistic era and then to face the international market.

  • 2023 Cultural Asset Promotion Plan "Shuiwei Settlement: The Story of Local Reclamation that Lives in Symbiosis with Water"

The Taoyuan Landscape Art Festival, which has been held since 2013, takes the city's natural and cultural landscapes as its core and connects art and landscape through multiple forms of creation. In this year's Longtan exhibition area, we can see the natural stream Laojie Creek, the pond "Longtan Dachi" where ancestors collected water, and the "Old Town", a settlement city built along the water. The local ponds, roads, residential buildings, streets, land fairs, etc. are all the footprints of the ancestors who overcame environmental constraints to live here. The historical memory of local development along the water is hidden everywhere. The 2023 cultural assets promotion plan "Waterwoven Settlement: The Story of Local Reclamation that Lives with Water" focuses on the relationship between local ethnic groups and hydrology, and launches a series of exciting and fulfilling activities based on in-depth research! Starting from fieldwork, with the help of local elders, cultural and historical workers and scholars, we gradually sorted out the context of Longtan water and culture, and shared these stories with everyone in last week's cultural and historical lecture. In addition, we also designed a landscape literacy lesson plan exclusive to Longtan, leading students from five elementary schools in Longtan, Delong, Qianlong, Gaoyuan, and Shimen to enter the real scene and explore the meaning of life through game-based learning. Historical details ~ Under the guidance of the artist, the children interpreted old place names and characteristic landscapes together, and created new words rich in local color to express their identification and imagination of the place!
